Once again, the swimbait GDW Flag 255 got the job done with “Swimbait Striper” #2. We couldn’t be more thrilled.
We went out in the morning for a couple hours and the only thing we got was some sun.
Later in the day we decided to give it another go.
This time we went light–just a rod and hoodie! Didn’t plan to be out long; a 45-minute session at most.
We were on our 2nd “last cast” when suddenly we got slammed 4 feet from shore! We were actually admiring the sunset when we got slammed! Although startled, we still got in a good hook set! The tug-o-war was ON!
Since he bit so close, it wasn’t a long battle. But we weren’t able to get the fish over the ledge. We had to grab it under the gill plate but not before cutting us up pretty good. We attributed it to our excitement.
Finally on shore, we celebrated with some yelling and jumpin’!
